استطاع فريق من كلية الهندسة جامعة الخرطوم من بناء اول قمر صناعي سوداني اطلق علية اسم كيوبسات بجانب انشاء محطة ارضية. وتم ارسال واستقبال الاشارات من القمر الصناعي التجريبي الى المحطة.
و اشارت رئيسة قسم الهندسة الكهربائية و الالكترونية بجامعة الخرطوم الدكتور تهاني عطية ان القمر الصناعي كيوبسات قمر صناعي تعليمي لاغراض البحث العلمي.
و مشروع القمر الصناعي التجريبي بدا بمبادرة من الدكتور نادر عبدالحميد عمر في اغسطس 2009 ، والذي عمل مع فريق يضم 4 مهندسين من جامعة الخرطوم تحت رعاية واشراف مركز النيل للابحاث التقنية، وتمكن الفريق من وضع التصاميم لمشروع القمر الصناعي التجريبي وتحويلها الى دوائر الكترونية.
واوضحت تهاني عطية في منتدي بمناسبة بناء القمر الصناعي التجريبي امس، انه تم تجميع القمر الصناعي التجريبي بصورة دقيقة وانشاء محطة ارضية له وتثبيته على برج كليه الهندسة جامعة الخرطوم ، وتم ارسال واستقبال الاشارات والبيانات في المحطة الارضية ، وزادت بذلك نكون كسرنا حاجز الخوف من التقنية ونتطلع لاطلاق قمر صناعي باسم السودان في الفضاء الخارجي على امتداد الكرة الارضية .
و اكد رئيس الفريق وصاحب الفكرة ، ان هنالك اكثر من 100 جامعة في العالم لها اقمار صناعية، واضاف ان الهدف من القمر الصناعي التجريبي كيوبسات دعم مناهج علوم الفضاء بالجامعات السودانية، واشاد بصبر واصرار الفريق العامل على انجاز مهمته حتى اكمال القمر الصناعي التجريبي وتجريبه

Send your call sign to Mars
NASA are collecting names to be put on a microchip that'll be onboard the Mars Science Laboratory rover heading to Mars in the fall of 2011.
Some Radio Amateurs have been adding their call sign to last name field.
As well as having your call sign travelling around the Martian surface you also get a electronic commemorative certificate to print out.
The rover has an unusual connection with radio - it has special Morse Code indentations on its wheels that will spell out the initials JPL in Morse as it travels around Mars.
JPL stands for Jet Propulsion Laboratory, builders of the rover.

The transmissions will begin on Monday 11 April 2011 at 14:30 UTC and continue
until 10:30 UTC on 13 April 2011.
Due to the fact that the solar panels are covered, the satellite will be
powered only by the onboard battery. The satellite will run in low power mode.
This means that the transmissions will cycle ON/OFF. They will be ON for 40-60
seconds and OFF for 2 minutes.
145.950 MHz FM Downlink:
FM transmissions will cycle between a voice ID, select telemetry values, 24
international greeting messages in 15 languages and SSTV images. One of the
messages will be a conversation between Yuri Gagarin and ground control.
145.919 MHz CW Beacon
The CW transmissions will be callsign ID, select telemetry, and callsigns of
people actively involved with the ARISS program.
145.920 MHz SSB BPSK-1000 Telemetry
The BPSK transmissions will feature a new 1kBPSK protocol developed by Phil
Karn, KA9Q to be readable in low signal level conditions. The BPSK data will
transmit satellite telemetry. Free ground station soundcard demodulator and
display software will be available.
Note that the linear transponder will not be active during this event.
